Sunlake High School senior, Raul Almanzar, went on a captivating Thanksgiving break trip that transcended the usual family feast traditions. Venturing into the bustling heart of “…Manhattan, New York,” with his family, Raul’s vacation unfolded as a memorable exploration of iconic landmarks and urban marvels. One highlight of Raul’s New York adventure was his “…visit to the World Trade Center.” The significance of this site, laden with historical and emotional weight, left an indelible mark on the young traveler. Standing amidst the soaring towers and paying homage to the resilience displayed on that fateful day, Raul found this experience to be the favorite part of his trip.
However, the trip wasn’t without its nuances. Raul confessed that the concluding day held a tinge of melancholy. As the reality of departure loomed, he found the day somewhat lackluster, a sentiment not uncommon among travelers bidding farewell to a city that never sleeps. His least favorite part was the last day because “…not much happened and we were leaving” he explained. From bustling malls to the solemnity of the World Trade Center, his Thanksgiving sojourn in New York emerged as a fusion of family bonding, cultural exploration, and personal reflection, leaving an enduring imprint on the pages of his high school memories.
