Saturday, December 9th, marked a competition for thespian students. On the 9th, the theatre students traveled to Wesley Chapel High School to compete against other schools. There, they competed for the best theatre students in the program at Sunlake High School. For the competition, students had to choose a solo musical and perform it in front of judges to get a score and support the schools theatre team. One of Mrs. West’s many students who went and participated was sophomore Sara Mercier. Sara said, “…the purpose of the competition is so we can show off our voices and choreo and what we put together so we can practice together.” Many students from many schools came together. The judges gave the students a score that was either fair, good, excellent or superior. While at the competition, Sara performed Once Upon a December from Anastasia; a 1997 solo musical. In result of her performance, she was given superior rank from the judges. Her “POV” on the competition was that is was “…very fun and it was a great time to put together alike minds.”
