Sunlake High School’s National Honor Society (NHS) is providing valuable volunteering opportunities for its members, including junior Daniel Garcia. Daniel recently participated in volunteering events that encompassed diverse activities aimed at community service.
Among the events Daniel attended were Rushe’s movie night and a holiday card-making session for a local nursing home. Reflecting on his experience, Daniel shared, “Helping out at Rushe’s movie night and making holiday cards for our local nursing home was a fulfilling experience.” At the movie night, he took on various responsibilities, including setting up the venue, managing concessions, monitoring doors to ensure children stayed in designated areas, and preparing food. Attending the event with friends made the experience even more enjoyable for him.
Expressing his commitment to future NHS volunteering opportunities, Daniel emphasized, “I plan to attend more NHS events as long as there are opportunities available.” For him, being part of NHS is not just about enhancing his college resume; it’s also a gateway to community connection. Daniel stated, “Volunteering is important to me as it’s a way to connect with the community and improve my chances to apply for scholarships.” Through NHS, students like Daniel find a platform to contribute to their community while building a foundation for their future endeavors.
