Sunlake sophomore, Tahir Mohamed, went into Tuesday’s basketball game against Palm Harbor University High School with an extremely strong mentality. Tahir emphasized that, “My mindset going into the game was to secure the win while playing Sunlake team basketball, and getting rebounds.” Tahir did just that in the junior varsity basketball team’s win over the Hurricanes 59-37. He credits his teams great performance and execution of plays, to bring them that night’s win. Tahir had a pretty good performance himself in the game, contributing a couple of points and rebounds.
Whenever he isn’t on the court Tahir mentioned the importance of keeping the teams energy up, and he said that, “I helped my team keep up energy and stay positive by cheering and motivating them, and also giving them advice on how to do better.” He noted that while he and his team were playing, the crowd did not disappoint. “The crowd was full of energy and live,” he stated. After the Seahawk won, him and his team proceeded to watch the varsity team dominate; the final score was 79-52, crushing the Hurricanes. Tahir said that while watching the varsity game, him and his teammates talked about their passing skills and their style of play. The Sunlake boy’s basketball JV and varsity teams had a groundbreaking performance that night, bringing more dubs to the lake.
