As Christmas break approaches and finals week is in full swing, the Sunlake student council has been filling the school with some holiday spirit. They are participating in “Do Good December” and on the 12th they were able to help the students feel a little warmer on a chilly morning. Hot chocolate and candy canes were given out to everyone by members of the student council. They do it every year and the students look forward to the nice treat. Eric Travis, a sophomore, shared how the morning went and why he enjoys being involved in the festivities before Christmas break. He said, “I decided to help out this year because it’s a really easy thing for us to do and people always enjoy it.” Since the students are busy and distracted with their midterms, Eric said that, “It’s always a nice surprise for everyone.” It is also a good way for everyone to feel the holiday spirit before the actual break begins. Eric also said that they, “…try to set it up so that it is on a cold day,” and it happened to work out perfectly with it being one of the coldest days all school year. The hot cocoa was a huge success in terms of its popularity amongst the students. “Some people came to school earlier in the morning just to make sure they got hot cocoa,” said Eric. Sunlake always finds ways to make school more exciting and for students to be more involved. Student council has helped a lot throughout all of December to make school a little more exciting during the end of the semester.
