The Seahawk boys have been on fire this season. With only two losses overall! Senior night was on January 11th against Pasco High
School. The Seniors stepped on the pitch in excitement, determined to win and they very much did. The varsity boys crushed the Pasco Pirates with a great win of 6-0!
Senior Nicholas Elgin was playing as a right back. All the seniors were very excited to get on the field and play all together. It technically wasn’t their last home game, but according to Elgin, “It feels accomplished knowing all the work I’ve done up to this point.” The game overall went great and was very fun to play. Nicholas said, “We were all having a laugh and enjoying the game.” The best part of the night was walking down the field and taking a moment to recognize all the seniors and everyone’s appreciation for them. Nicholas thought, “It was very nice to walk down the field in the ceremony, thanks to all the people and teammates that showed their support.” He got to walk down with his two biggest supporters: his mom and dad. Plus, his mom’s friends and one of his close friends came out to cheer him on that night.
Nicholas has been playing soccer since he was 5 years old. He said his motivations are “…my friends, family, and my drive to get better.” The thing he loves the most is making tackles and acrobatic plays. Elgin said, “My favorite thing about Sunlake soccer are the friends I’ve made from the team and all the funny memories I have.” He definitely will miss high school but is very excited to start his next chapter in college. Nicholas is planning on playing soccer for Saint Leo University. His final message to the team is, “I’m grateful for all of you and all of the memories we’ve made. I’m always smiling with the team and enjoying the moment. I can’t wait to see how our season ends, and let’s keep pushing.”
