Every year, Sunlake’s various sport teams do their very best to practice and ensure their skills are where they need to be to compete against other teams from various schools. Sunlake’s golf teams are extremely dedicated to the sport. Through discipline and teamwork, they have fostered a sense of community and achieved impressive successes in regional tournaments. One such team is our boys’ golf team, who ended off their Fall Season on a high note. This school year, the team’s Fall Season started the first week of August and ran until October 30th, where the team played in the Regionals. Sunlake’s golf teams play on the golf course located at Heritage Harbor, with practice usually taking place Monday to Thursday right after school. When the team plays matches, they typically land on Tuesdays and Thursdays. As for matches, this season, the team finished tied for 4th in East–Sunshine Athletic Conference, and finished runner-up in the 3A District 9. Junior Max Haines also broke the School Record for a 9-Hole where he shot a 6-under–30. With the team always improving, it’s exciting to consider what they might do next. Students attending tournaments is a great way to boost the morale of our excellent players. Spreading the word or giving a thumbs up to our great golfers in the halls is also an excellent way to show support!
