Sunlake has an excellent selection of sports teams, with one of those teams being our girl’s golf team. With the fall season beginning in August and ending in November, the team had plenty of time to practice their skills and make some great progress! The team practiced on Mondays and Wednesdays, and their matches were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. During practices, which were held at the Heritage Harbor golf course, the team would warm up at the putting green or driving range, and would then play a 9-hole game to get real experience and build their match skills. All the players on the team make sure to help each other when playing; after all, one player’s improvement is an improvement for the whole team.
This fall season, the team made some great accomplishments that should be noted. The team placed first overall at conference and districts, with Alyssa Mixon and Hailey Stricker placing 1st and 3rd individually at conference, respectively. Alyssa Mixon also placed 3rd at the regionals, which qualified for state. There, she placed 4th, which is a record for Sunlake!
Sunlake’s girls golf team made great progress this fall season. Be sure to show your support and give them a thumbs up if you see one of the players around!
