Samuel Wu Plays Against Steinbrenner

For now, Samuel hasn’t received any scholarships. “I haven’t gotten any scholarships yet, but i would be blessed to receive one my last year of high school.” Hopefully soon a few schools that see his great work ethic and strategy will reach out.

Samuel Wu is seen playing on the court. “I play basketball as an outlet for my energy; it’s a place I can clear my mind and get away from everyone else. Playing any sport is an opportunity to build good work ethic and push yourself.” (Noah Sagnip)

Last Friday, on the 19th of January, Sunlake High School’s varsity basketball team beat Steinbrenner High School 73 to 49. Samuel Wu, a junior at Sunlake, is a player on varsity who got to play in the game against the other school. When Samuel is in a game, sometimes it’s hard for him to control the adrenaline he gets while playing. He feels awake and excited but overall tries to stay in the moment and focus. Samuel is very comfortable with his teammates, as he stated, “I mean, I’ve known most of these guys for several years already. After spending so much time with together in the locker rooms, court, and team meals, I feel a strong connection to all my teammates.” This year the team certainly improved their communication weather that be off the court or in the game. A lot of success they’ve seen comes from their willingness to swing the ball and play together. Samuel’s personal goal is to start on varsity. He is working to be a stronger ball handler and control his pace. Samuel wants to push his playing time outside of high school as he said, “I plan to play basketball for as long as I can, and I am certainly open to perusing collegiate basketball if the opportunity comes.”

My name is Cadyn Larscheid. I am a photo assistant editor for the Sunlake High School yearbook committee, my job with the yearbook is to take photos at school events and assign some of my fellow staffers who particularly like to participate in photography to have the opportunity to take pictures at school events as well. It is my job to set up photoshoots for sports, clubs, and other activities. I help add photos to spreads and communicate with the editor and chiefs (Ella Infanger and Sam Chacon) for assigning staffers assignments to the images I have chosen for that spread. along with all the activities I obtained by being in the yearbook, I also write stories and do interviews. I am not alone in the work I do, with the help of Daniel Crane(Photo editor) and Nathaniel Peguero(future photo editor in 2025-2026). I have been a staff member since 2023. I am a senior at Sunlake and will attend Florida Southern College and major in architecture. I have a series of hobbies that include, baking, exercising, hanging out with friends, and an expensive one; building Legos.

My name is Noah Sagnip and I am the Section Editor for our staff. I plan each page and hand out assignments for our staffers to make content in both our yearbook and newspaper! I am a Senior at Sunlake high school. I play baseball, love the gym, and spending time with friends.
