Already halfway through their season, the Sunlake basketball has reigned in a strong season so far. With a record of 14-10, the boys have seen great improvement compared to previous years. With new players, better team chemistry, and an urge to win every game, the boys find themselves very successful. Recently, the basketball team faced Landolakes high school in the basketball Butter Bowl, a tradition of sport rivalries of Sunlake vs. Landolakes. The team stood on business and defeated the Gators 71-57.
Starting center for the team, Junior Brady Eskandari, shares his POV of the game against Landolakes. “Overall, the team’s performance was great, everyone did their jobs and we ended up with a W.” Many students and parents attended the game, hoping for a win on either side, along with a hope for a battle between the two teams. However, Brady says, “We wanted everyone to come and support, but in our heads we knew we were winning this game.” The team shared a strong confidence that they would come out victorious in this game, and it turns out they did. “The team works the best when we are confident and everyone stands on their own business,” said Brady. To finish off, Brady says, “The season is going well so far and I think we will finish out the season strong.” Brady hopes to lead the team and do his best to finish out the season.
