For varsity boys basketball it has been a challenging yet exciting season. The team is full of players that are passionate about getting better each game. A junior, Nelson Marshall, shared his experience being on the team, and the chemistry that everyone shares. “…Being on the basketball team is an overall amazing experience and can be very rewarding,” he said. Nelson also appreciates that the sport, “…fosters a sense of camaraderie among teammates, provides chances of personal growth and development, and offers a very competitive environment.” He said that, “From intense practices to competitive games, being part of a basketball team offers a chance to work towards a common goal while honing individual skills and enjoying the support of teammates.”
At the game against Mitchell High School, the boys fought hard and kept the score close. They made sure to prepare for their competition prior to the game as well. Nelson said, “The team prepared for the game against Mitchell by studying their game film and creating a game plan to take away their advantages.” His personal goals were to, “…get my team involved early and be aggressive throughout the game…” and he said that during the game, “I could’ve been a little more aggressive when it comes to getting to the rim.” Overall he thinks he had a pretty good game and that there are always things that can improve. He says how important it is that, “In basketball you win as a team and not an individual…” and that the team remembers to play for each other. As the season starts to wrap up, the boys will continue to use their skills and practice their weaknesses to compete against the remaining teams.
