This time of the year can be boring for some. The long wait from winter break to spring break causes most to have a boring third quarter awaiting the fun break. While having a long time till break people still find ways to have a good quarter. One such person is Junior Mackenzie King; during the school week, she had focused on catching up with work and getting a head start on some of the work she would be missing that Friday due to being away. In the evenings, Mackenzie works at her job which she loves because she gets to teach little kids gymnastics. Other evenings she’s at cheerleading practice preparing for competition. While her week was similar to most, this weekend was very special. On Friday she and her family had made the long drive to Atlanta, Georgia for a very big cheerleading competition. It was her first time in Atlanta and that specific cheerleading competition. When asked about her impression of the competition she said, “Getting to put on a routine and see bigger teams perform was an amazing experience.” Mackenzie said that her team that weekend had “amazing energy and confidence as a group.” Unfortunately, her team lost first place and ended up getting second place, which Mackenzie was still happy with. Outside of the competition, she went to the biggest aquarium in the country, the Georgia Aquarium, which she said was really cool. While the school week can be busy and boring, everyone should try to make the most of their weekends as Mackenzie did.
