Jonah Romero, a Sunlake high school senior, began his first job this summer, landing a position at Chick-fil-A in the back of house. Over the past two months, Jonah has immersed himself in the fast-paced world of fast food, gaining not only a paycheck but also valuable life experience.
One of Jonah’s favorite aspects of his job is the opportunity to work alongside his friends. “Working with my friends has made the job a lot more enjoyable,” Jonah shared. “It’s great to gain teamwork experience and learn how to communicate and cooperate in a work environment.” Many of Jonah’s coworkers are also Sunlake students.
However, like any job, there are challenges. Jonah admits that his least favorite part of the job is dealing with the back of the house, particularly the dirty dishes. “The back of the house can get pretty dirty, especially the dirty dishes” he noted. Despite this, Jonah has tackled the less glamorous task of the job with a positive attitude.
Once school begins in August he plans to continue working at Chick-Fil-A just less hours. He plans to work “…2-3 times a week” so he can still focus on school.
