Most people say that summer is the best part of the school year because it’s when kids get to stay up late, have no homework, and, best of all, there’s NO SCHOOL. During summer, kids have so much fun hanging out with friends and going on exciting vacations. For example, Junior Jazleen Vega had an amazing summer adventure in Colombia. She visited over five different cities there! The trip was extra special because it was for her grandma’s 90th birthday. Jazleen went with her mom, her mom’s partner, and her baby sister. Jazz said they “went to visit family” and learn more about their culture.
Jazz said her favorite part of the trip was “exploring the beautiful mountains in Colombia” and spending time with her whole family. One of the things she enjoyed the most was horseback riding through the countryside. Although she loved her time in Colombia, she started to feel homesick after a while. Jazleen said that her favorite memories were “laughing and having fun with her cousins”, whom she hadn’t seen in years. She felt at home during those moments. Now that she’s back, she’s happy to be home but will forever remember the memories she made on her amazing summer trip.
