A global pandemic doesn’t stop us from growing up. When students turn 15, they are able to get their driving permits and when they turn 16, they will be able to get their license! This year has delayed many students from reaching such milestones of getting their permit and license From having to schedule appointments months ahead of time, to waiting in long lines at the DMV, this year has not been a smooth sail for these students. However, technology has played a big factor into this year’s global pandemic. Students are now able to take their permit test online instead of having to go to the DMV.

Freshman, Bryah Walders recently just got her permit! When asked if she had any struggle with getting her permit at the DMV, she responded, “I feel like it was more weird than difficult to get my permit because when I went into the DMV everyone was wearing masks and was far apart.” She then elaborated that “the worst part was waiting outside for a long time because only a certain amount of people could go in at a time.”

Most students wait a while until they decide to get their permit; this delays them from getting their license when they turn 16. Bryah was smart, she got her permit right after her birthday! When asked how she felt, she said, “I’m excited because I got my permit early, right after my birthday! Therefore when I turn 16 I will be able to get my license right away; unlike some people who wait.”
