A yearly tradition at Sunlake High School is the placing of hundreds of American flags around our schools flag pole by the Freedom 365 club. Ever wonder why they were there? Senior Olivia Jacinto helped set these flags up as a memorial for 9/11 to “show appreciation to those who lost their lives.” They “put out the flags for the number of those who passed away in honor of them.” Olivia shares that “we did get a lot of compliments” proving the flags did have an effect on some people. 9/11, a tragic time in history “Had a major impact on everybody’s lives and society” she said, “so the flags brought more awareness.”
