A favorite homecoming event for many Seahawks is Powderpuff. Its a popular event where the traditional roles of girls and boys is reversed. Each class has a team of girls who compete in a flag football game and a team of boys who perform a dance at halftime and cheer on the sidelines. Seniors took the win for this years powderpuff with juniors placing second, sophomores third, and freshman in fourth place. Senior Aiden Gallow enjoyed “seeing everyone have a good time and of course having the dance and winning 1st place.” Each class represented our school colors: gold, teal, black and white. “Our powderpuff dance was fairly easy for the most part but definitely had its challenging parts. It was only possible with lots of practice and a good team,” continues Gallow. This memorable event is a  great way to kick off our homecoming week and bring the school spirit. For halftime, Seahawks love the tradition of seeing the boys perform their dances. Sophomore Kevin Doysher participated in his powderpuff dance and his “…favorite part was landing the flip since we barely practiced it.” For Gallow, the “dance was fairly easy for the most part but definitely had its challenging parts. It was only possible with lots of practice and a good team.” In the end, “The powderpuff experience was amazing but I wish it wasn’t so early in the year,” claims Doysher. Powderpuff never fails to bring the Homecoming spirit schoolwide and it kicked Sunlake off for a great rest of the week.
