“Lord what fools these mortals be.” This weekend Sunlake Drama club performs Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Wesley Chapel performing Arts Center. The premiere is Friday, October 21, at 7:30 p.m. with shows Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30. There are three ways to watch: in-person, livestream, or video on demand. Tickets can be purchased through the link on the school website or by the QR codes posted around the school.

Many students have worked hard for the past month to put this show together, including freshman Ivana Bagwell who is starring as Hermia

“I think what I want the audience to take away from the performance is just the whole essence of Hermia,” Ivana said.  “She’s this kind of pretty pretty princess that is a little uptight. I don’t want to give away too much but she gets a little bit, how do you say, free willed if you will,” Ivana said.  “I really like that she breaks out of her shell at the end… and I hope the audience really enjoys that.”

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a fantastical romantic comedy by William Shakespeare.

“I think I chose to audition because I’ve always wanted to be one of the main characters in a play,” Ivana said. “When I saw the audition poster in the hallway I was like, ‘oh my gosh I have to do this’!”

The cast has been rehearsing at the Wesley Chapel Performing Arts Center all week from 3 P.M. till 9 P.M. to make their performance the best it can be.

“I think it is one of the best performances I have ever participated in.” Ivana said. “It’s just incredible to see the final product be shaped and formed and I’m super excited for the audience to see it.”

Make sure to come and see a Midsummer Night’s Dream and support our Thespian Seahawks and all of their hard work!
