Located in Land O’ Lakes, Sunlake High school has many successful sports teams. Such as the boys golf team that qualified for States last year, cross-country making it to States this year, and our girls swim team placing 2nd at States. Another successful team is our boys’ varsity soccer team. After making it to Districts last year, they started their new season off well, with a score of 3-0. One of the players on this team is number 19, sophomore Ian Tigue. His thoughts on high school soccer is that it is “very fun because you get to bond with kids from your school and verse friends from other schools.” Winning in high school sports gives you bragging rights against your friends after beating them. He also thinks that “it’s good competition and a mix of good kids from different leagues.” High school soccer can contain people from MLS Next, ECNL, ECNLR, FCL, NPL, and many other leagues. It creates a very broad mix of people to play against. After being moved up to varsity after a very successful freshman year on JV he says that he “thinks our team is better from last year [and we] are gonna make it farther this year than last year because of how different our team is and [our] skill level this year is better”. The boy’s plan is to make it to Regionals by doing better than last year, then continue to States. They are on track for States with three wins and zero losses so far this season. Overall, Ian Tigue urges students to “try out [for the tean] and play because it is very fun and a good way to make friends.” Sunlake is the home to many very good sports team and successful athletes suchas Ian Tigue that work hard to go as far as they can go.
