Makayla Edwards, a sophomore here at Sunlake High School enjoys making beaded bracelets and gifting or selling them to her friends and others in her free time. She also enjoys stringing them when she’s stressed or overwhelmed. “I got into this hobby because I would order bracelets from different small businesses, but they would never really fit my tiny wrists.” Makayla also supports other small businesses by buying her beads and other supplies from them. “So I started buying the supplies myself, and I thought, ‘wait this is great—I’m gonna start a business from this!’ And I have not fully started my business, but I have started selling my bracelets in person—I just haven’t started the online platform yet. I make bracelets because I wanted everyone to feel like they have a bracelet that’s perfect for their wrist size—not too big and not too small. I haven’t been doing this for long though. I’ve been doing it for two and a half months, so it has not been very long, but I have been making a lot of progress.” Makayla plans to start her online platform as soon as possible, and she’s working to get everything in order before she does!
