Last year, Sunlake’s Student Council offered a rose delivery service on Valentines day where students can buy a rose and then get the rose delivered to a friend or someone they love. This year the tradition is being continued. But behind the scenes Student Council puts in a lot of work and preparation to make this day special for everyone. Junior Ava Edwards was one of these people. “I started and led the flower gram tradition last year at Sunlake, so I really enjoyed being able to help be a part of it again this year.” This year her job was to wrap flowers, teach others to wrap flowers and even pass out a few roses. “The whole flower gram process took about two weeks. We let students buy flower grams for about a week and a half prior to Valentine’s Day while Student Council prepared the notes and forms for the flowers, then the flowers were purchased the weekend before Valentine’s Day. The bouquets were put together the day before Valentine’s Day, and the flowers were delivered on Valentine’s Day.” When asked for her favorite part of the flower grams she said, “My favorite part about flower grams is delivering them to the students and seeing how happy and excited they get when they receive one. Valentine’s Day is a fun holiday because it’s all about showing your loved ones that you appreciate and care about them. Whether it be your friends or significant other, Valentine’s Day is a great holiday to spread some love.”

Not only does the flower gram tradition spread some love on Valentine’s day, it also helps raise money for student council to sponsor other future events.” Overall, I think that flower grams is a super fun fundraiser for the organizer, Student Council, and the customers. This year, we had just over 300 orders for flower grams which is double the amount we had last year. I look forward to seeing how we can grow the fundraiser for next year!”
