Picture day is a long-awaited event at Sunlake, the day where you take the picture that will be with you for the rest of the year. Some carefully prepare for the day by planning out their outfit days in advance; others just go to school and take the picture like it’s any other day. Junior Amelia Sitoy discussed her process to get ready for picture day, saying, “I put on my makeup, got my hair done, and I wore something I knew would stand out.” She made sure to look good and feel good in her presentation before the day started so the photo would come out perfectly when the time came. “I was overall pretty neutral about how my picture ended up. I am just really excited for Senior year when I will be able to take and submit my own photo that I approve of.” She went on to speak about how she was initially nervous she would accidentally sneeze or blink during her picture, and how relieved she was when she was able to stay cool and calm during her photo. Amelia stated the whole picture taking procedure was very smooth as well, “it was a really easy and simple process, I got attended to right when I entered the gym and the photographers made sure I looked good before I took my picture.” It was seamless for her, the one thing she had been nervous about the whole day ended up only taking her five minutes. Amelia’s picture day experience ended up being similar to many other students; so much stress and worry over a 2-second picture. Overall, this year’s picture day saw many different types of students, the ones who wanted to control their appearance to a T and the ones who could care less about their picture and the way it would come out.
