Sunlake is filled with many experienced teachers who are phenomenal at feeding the minds of all the young Seahawks and preparing them to become full-fledged adults. Mrs. Peacock is a veteran teacher at Sunlake who teaches her students about everything English, from different writing strategies to proper grammar. Mrs. Peacock explained that she is a part of the Sunlake Sunshine Committee, which grants her the ability to “…create boo baskets and pass them around to other teachers secretly.” She loves the whole event with boo baskets because it gives her a way to celebrate her favorite holiday, Halloween, and it is “…a good way to booster moral and comradery in the teachers; it gives us something to look forward to during the school year.” She ended up secretly giving the basket to (an action mainly called ‘booing’) the forensics teacher, which she was excited about because she got to be the first person to start off the whole ‘booing’ cycle. Mrs. Peacock then went on a tangent about why she loves to teach so much: “I get to muck up my corner of the universe, being able to help make a difference and inspire people. It is wonderful to have the ability to watch students grow and learn right in front of your eyes.” She loves to see kids progress throughout the year and feels a sense of pride as she is the ones who teaches them. Mrs. Peacock has and will keep teaching her students about the “…glorious language of English,” and she will enjoy every second of it.
