AP Physics is a challenging class that Sunlake offers where students grow their knowledge about the scientific branch, physics. One particular way they learn in this class is through doing hands-on experiments that teach them more about the laws of physics. Junior Angelina Gonzalez, a student in the class, spoke about an experiment where “…we had to make the tallest tower possible with one sheet of paper and two inches of tape. It taught us how to think outside the box and utilize the scientific method.” Angelina’s team worked together and brainstormed the best way to get the tallest tower, and they ended up, “…beating the past record, even though we didn’t have the tallest tower in our class.” It was a fun trial that the class not only enjoyed competing in but it also taught them more about the scientific method; an amusing and informative experiment.
“It taught me about how physics is used in every aspect of life, down to something as silly as building paper towers,” Angelina cited after she finished her paper tower. She stated the hardest part of the experiment was “…finding our solution, it really stretched my groups’ creativity.” Overall, Angelina enjoyed the project and was excited for all the future Ap Physics experiments to come.
