The JV boys’ soccer team played against Wesley Chapel, which ended in a 2-2 tie. Junior Nicolas Larrea stated, “We started really good with a goal within the first 3 minutes from a mistake from the Chapel’s goalkeeper.” He went on to say how the JV team “…dominated and were able to score and make it 2-1, which stood for most of the game.” During the second half of the match, Wesley Chapel played a very defensive game. Nicolas said, “…with 15 minutes left, they sent a prayer shot from like 30 yards out and our goalkeeper misread how the ball was coming, so it went over him and they scored.” This means the game ended with a tie and a final score of 2-2. The team came a long way from where they were at the beginning of the soccer season; “the team was very strong from the beginning but as we developed chemistry we were pretty much unstoppable and mercy ruled most teams.” Through all the practices and games the team had together, they all became very close, with some upperclassmen taking on the task of mentoring some of the underclassmen. The team connected “…not only on the field but…” off the field as well; Nicolas stated they “…had really good friendships throughout the team.” Sunlake’s JV boys soccer team had a good season this year and they are ready to dominate the seasons to come.
