Jacob Morrel has “…been playing soccer for roughly 12 years…” and January 11th, the night of Sunlake soccer senior night, was a night he’ll never forget. The senior night ceremony took place before the game, and each senior player took their turn walking down the field. When it was Jacobs turn, he “…felt great, the smile on my face was huge and it was hard to contain my laughter. I felt super supported by my teammates and friends.” He explains, “I walked down the field with my parents and my girlfriend, who came to be there with me on a special night.” The game that followed the ceremony was “…a lot of fun. Being a first pick option for that line up felt really good, because I knew I’d be starting in a fun game.” Jacob played left back, and it was a fun game, as the boys won 6-0. They’ve been undefeated the whole season, and this game was not an exception. Jacob was very proud of his team and excited for the next games to come finishing up his senior season.
As stated before, Jacob has been playing soccer for 12 years, which is a large portion of his life. What motivates him to keep playing is “…the passion I have for the game and the want to get better at the sport. I love the experience, the friendships I build when I start a new season every year and the thrill of playing the game.” He loves his teammates on his Sunlake team. He says that his favorite part of being on the team is “…the players. They’re always really fun to hangout with and play with on the field since they always have the desire to win.” When asked about playing in college, Jacob explained that he is “ …still in the works of searching for one. It’s crazy to think about how I’ll be graduating soon, but I’m excited, because I know I have a lot to come in my future, and I’m ready for it.” As a final message as a senior soccer player, Jacob would like to say, “Always keep on playing your game, and always have fun. Don’t let anyone ruin the game for you. Have fun while it lasts, because before you know if, it’ll all be over.”
