Last Thursday, the Sunlake cross country girls won a regional championship for the first time in school history. They won by 30 points, completely destroying their competition. Freshman Leah Foster was the fourth finisher on the team, helping to lower the team score and secure the win. Leah finished with a time of 20:29 and got 17th place in the region. Without Leahs strong finish, her team wouldnt have been able to win. She exclaims, Overall, I think I did pretty good in my race. Our team did great! We got 1st. Im so proud of all of the girls and their performances!

It’s a great feeling getting promoted because when you put in the work that it takes to become a higher rank, it’s nice to see it all pay off.”

The Sunlake cross country girls jump for joy after their Conference win. Freshman Katelin Wilcox, one of the fastest runners in the state, is in the middle of the photo. She has both of her arms raised in the air, holding up the number one. Katelin expresses, I was proud of myself and my team because we did amazing and we won! Im excited to see what we can do next.

This is Kailyn Ford, a varsity cross country runner, racing in a very competitive race. Kailyn says ...racing a 5k is really difficult. We push ourselves to the point where we feel like were dying. But even when I feel like Im dying, I still push myself, because Im racing for my teammates and I know my family is routing for me.
