Simple pastimes can be a great way to spend time outside of school. One popular pastime is art and creating something for yourself and others. Art is subjective and can be done in many ways and forms. One of these ways includes 2D art. This can come as drawings, paintings, prints, and photographs.
Abigail Williams, a junior at Sunlake, loves to create pieces using different mediums, like colored pencils, markers, charcoal, and paint. Mediums are the materials used to create a work of art. For Abigail, she shared that she loves art because “it allows me to use my imagination to create something cool and new. It’s so fun watching a blank piece of paper turn into something that is unique and different from anything anyone has ever seen.” There are endless possibilities when artists create something which makes art such a diverse and interesting hobby. Abigail continued that, “Art has taught me that sometimes you need to be patient, as some of my pieces have taken a long time to complete.” Patience is a trait many artists need in order to create something amazing. She plans in the future to create more pieces to add to her portfolio. Abigail also wants to practice with new mediums and expand her abilities. This worthwhile hobby has so many advantages and brings more color and diversity to our world.

As a junior this year, Blake Zevin has been throwing the javelin at track for three years now. He says throwing javelin “helps clear my mind and releases some stored up stuff.”
Junior Blake Zevin has been throwing the javelin for about six years, and he has been able to help other athletes at track for the past few years. Blake says, “[javelin] helps me in other activities by being able to help my friends in the same sport.”
