Hailey Wasson, a dedicated 12th grader, has left a lasting mark as one of the founders of the Creative Writing Club. For her, writing has always been about more than just words; it’s about imagination, expression, and community. ” I like this Club because I’m able to express my imagination through stories,” Hailey says, “I love being able to bring my ideas to life through my work, and this is the best place to do just that.”
The club started with a simple idea: friends who loved writing wanted a place where everyone could share freely. ” We learned that we all had that same passion, so we thought, why not make it a club?” Hailey remembers. That spark turned into a space where students could write, collaborate, and just be creative without fear of judgment. “We all workshop and share ideas. It’s open and supportive, and it makes you want to keep improving,” she says.

Of course, even passionate writers hit a wall sometimes. Hailey admits she’s struggled with writer’s block, especially while working on her novel, but she never faced it alone. “I hit writer’s block a few times, and some of the members pitched in ideas. What used to take me a month to get through now takes me a day.” For Hailey, those moments of encouragement are what the club is all about: teamwork, inspiration, and friendship.
She also has a message for anyone thinking about joining, “You don’t have to be a novelist to be here. If you like being creative or even just want to try something new, this is the place. Everyone’s voice matters.”
As graduation approaches, Hailey hopes to finish her novel and short stories, but most of all, she wants the club to continue growing. ” I want to see the club flourish and watch my fellow authors reach their goal.”
Her advice to younger students is simple but powerful: “Don’t be afraid to think freely. This is where your dreams can take flight, so go for it.”
