This week, Anna Seidelman; Senior, stayed busy in the classroom and at the barn. She rode her horse, Sunny, while preparing for a competition in early March. “We are starting to really focus in on our practices together,” she said. With the show getting closer, each ride has become more intentional and focused. Still, her favorite moment wasn’t about competing. “The highlight of being at the barn this week was spending time with the new baby horse! She’s super little and doesn’t even have a name yet,” Anna shared. Spending time in the pasture helps the foal get comfortable around people, and Anna enjoys being part of that process.
Balancing school and riding has helped her grow. “I used to procrastinate so much in my freshman, sophomore, and junior year,” she admitted. Now, she completes her homework right after school so she can relax later without stress. This week was especially busy with studying for big tests and exams. “I don’t get as anxious about the test if I’m prepared and know the material,” she explained. Staying organized has helped her manage her schedule and responsibilities.
Along with riding, Anna works at Suncoast Stables teaching beginner riders of all ages. “It’s a really rewarding job… I get to see firsthand people fall in love with the sport just as I did,” she said. Watching her students grow in a sport she loves makes the long days worth it.
With about 50 school days left, Anna feels more confident about graduation. “At the start of the year I was very unprepared for graduation, but now I feel really excited and capable to take on this new challenge!” she said. She will miss her friends but shared, “I’ll keep in contact with them and come visit.”
