As the seniors get ready to leave the nest and spread their wings, they have to get ready for college. They’ve spent the last year and a half preparing for these moments, spending countless hours writing essays, sending emails and applications, just to get a digital or paper letter that determines their future. One of these seniors in this wave of students heading out is Jordan Gardner. When asked about the process of applying, Jordan said, “One thing that surprised me is just how different each college application is, even with the common app there was typically like little things that would differ as you put in the information.” She applied for many colleges, with the support of her parents and family, Jordan mentioned when she finally got her acceptance letter, “I felt so overjoyed and relieved I finally did not have to worry about it. I was so excited that our stair railing is pretty loosely put on the wall, and I ended up ripping out a couple of nails with how quickly I ran to tell my family.” Jordan says on the topic of majors, “I intend to major in aerospace engineering! During my freshman summer I went to the NASA Kennedy space center and fell in love with all the information, and it felt like something I would love to do with my life.” Another major factor that led her to her decision was her AP Precalculus class, where she realized that she enjoyed it. She hopes that she will more independent and outgoing in her journey through college. Jordan currently doesn’t know of any friends that will joining her on this adventure just yet, but she hopes to see familiar faces. She’s nervous to start this new chapter knowing that its going to be different compared to her life right now, and knowing that high school is almost over, “It is really bittersweet I’m so excited for the new chapter to start but I know I’m really going to miss being around my friends here.” To all the underclassmen who will eventually have to do applications for college and scholarships, Jordan says, “Don’t ignore it for later! If you have an opportunity to get bright futures, make sure you take the sat as soon as you can the last thing you want is to be rushed for time!”
