As the Winter Break comes to an end, Sunlake students are gearing up to return to their every day routines. However, not everyone feels ready to dive back into the hustle and bustle of academic life just yet. Senior Madison Hatfield shares her take on returning to school after break. Madison says, “Coming back to school after winter break is always the worst.” She shares that she “…had so much fun and spent amazing time with friends and family.” Because she had such a great time with her loved ones, she said, “I wish it didn’t have to end.” Like other students, the thought of returning to early morning alarms and busy schedules left her feeling a sense of apprehension. “I think the hardest part is getting back into the routine,” Madison explained. “Waking up early, rushing to get ready, and then spending hours in class while balancing sports and a job can feel overwhelming. Especially after having a long break from it all. Plus, the pressure as a senior preparing for college.” The transition from the laid-back days of Winter Break to the structured environment of school can be challenging for many students every year. “I’m also feeling a bit nostalgic,” Madison admitted. “Senior year is flying by so quickly, and every moment feels precious. It’s bittersweet knowing that this will be my last semester of high school. I want to make the most of it, but at the same time, I wish time would slow down.”
