The Girls Weightlifting team at Sunlake has been known to be one of the best for many years now. Senior Jenifer Estrada, along with fifteen other Seahawks, earned their spot to compete in Regionals. Jenifer explains how the team prepared for the meet and says, “…Coach Hodros makes the workouts for us everyday because he knows what’s right for us to get better so we all go off from that. But for us to also get ready for the meet, we make sure we are all good with our weights and confidence with what we are going to lift at the meets.” The meet ended up being a huge success for her and her teammates. “I did a great job at Regionals. I got 2nd in traditional and 3rd in Olympic. I am proud of myself because I’ve been cutting weight and was still able to get my weights up,” says Jenifer. Her favorite part of the meet was “…cheering on the girls, even from different schools, and to just have a great time.” She explained how her goals for the meet were to “…make weight and get my first lifts up and to not give up even if I failed.”
