At Sunlake High School, Senior events are upon us, including senior nights, an event where people take time to commemorate the seniors who dedicated their time to a certain sport or extracurricular activity, and the last time they may be on the field. The event on the 17th of October was for the Football players, Color Guard, Band, and Cheerleaders.

Christin Canalte, a Sunlake Senior on the Varsity football team, was one of the 12 seniors to walked down that very same field this year. He joined the football team his sophomore year, and has spent the last 3 years doing just that, football! One of his favorite things about being on the team is the connection he created with his team members and his coaches.
Christin hadn’t been to as senior night before, but as he walked down the field, he says he felt ” A bit of mixed emotions, considering that it was the last time on a field that I spent 3 years on. But, you know, just happy to spend time with those guys on the field.” He was given a satchel that said “Senior 2026″ across the front and a flower, he walked down the field with his mother, and siblings. They also held a poster with pictures of his childhood (As seen in the picture at the top). After the Senior Night ceremony, the last home football game began, with 2 more away games against Cypress Creek, and Mitchell High School. The senior game was against Weasley Chapel high school, and Christin was excited to play. The played a long, hard game, with the cheerleaders at the sides cheering them on, and the Color Guard and Band did a wonderful performance during the half time show. Unfortunately though, the Sunlake football team lost, to an unbarring score of zero to thirty. When questioned about the final score of the game, Christin responded with saying ” I was kind of bummed out, you know, I had to spend my senior night on a loss” but he ended on a more optimist note when he talked about the other opportunities that their team would have at the other 2 away games. He was also asked about what his favorite memories during the game and overall experience, he mentioned that the Senior walk out was one of his favorite moments this game, along with the relationship that one develops with their coaches and team members. He finishes the interview with saying “Go Seahawks!”
