Senior setter Sofia Sierra helps lead Sunlake Volleyball to another unforgettable season and a lasting legacy.
“This season was something special,” Sofia Sierra said, “We worked so hard, and seeing it all pay off with a another regional title felt incredible.”
For Sofia and the Volleyball team, this year was about passion, teamwork and finishing strong. Competing in the regional final and winning back-to-back regional championships was the result of months of dedication. “Every practice was competitive,” she said. “No one ever took a day off. We all wanted the same thing, to make it to the State Final Four.”

The highlight of the season came in the regional final when Sunlake trailed 21-24 in the final set. The team rallied to win 26-24 in front of a roaring home crowd. “That comeback was unreal,” Sofia said. “The energy in the gym was insane. It’s one of those moments I’ll never forget.”
As a senior, this season meant more that just wins and stats. Sofia broke the school record for assists with over 1,600 and committed to play Division 1 volleyball at the University of West Georgia, marking the next chapter in her athletic journey.
“This team means everything to me,” Sofia shared. “The friendship, the memories and all the lessons I’ve learned will stay with me forever.”
Looking back, Sofia says what she’ll miss most isn’t just the wins or championships, but the people beside her every step of the way. “Playing for Sunlake has been one of the best experiences of my life,” she said. “I’ll carry these moments with me forever. These moments that are so meaningful for her are something to look back on love.
