The week of Monday, November 10th to Sunday, November 16th was an easygoing few days for Evan Moses, a freshman student at Sunlake. Celebrating his fifteenth birthday on the 11th, he and his family decided to go out to eat at Sogna Napoli Trattoria & Pizzeria, Italian being a favorite of his. He contentedly says, “Overall this week has been pretty easy and I’m happy on my birthday week that I got such an easy week!” To him, a few relaxing days are the break from stress he needs.
In line with recent news, the Sunlake High School’s competitive Swim & Dive team made regionals on November 6th and was on track to compete on the state level in Ocala on Saturday the 15th.

Evan says, “Regionals were good and exciting, the room was filled with so much energy.” The livelihood further motivated the swimmers to do their best that day. In describing the preparation for their competition, he says, “I’m feeling confident that our team is ready to perform at their best. We’ve all been working very hard this whole season, and I truly believe that we will do great and swim fast. More than anything, I’m hoping for a good meet, not just for me but for everyone.” His sportsmanship and pride for his team show what is truly important to him in his sport.
During state competitions on Saturday, Evan helped the relay team get to a 9th finish, an extremely impressive feat for someone his age. Reaching the competitive state level for a freshman in high school showcases his dedication and skill for his sport. Competing at the state level also meant that he was one of the Best of the Best swimmers on his team. Another competitive swimmer, George Patrocinio in eleventh grade, even placed 4th in the state. These accomplishments for the Sunlake Swim & Dive team have reflected the diligence and strength of our student body and have shown that hard work truly does pay off.
