The yearbook classroom transformed into a cozy Friendsgiving celebration this week as students gathered for their annual Thanksgiving potluck. Laughter, photos, and an impressive spread of food filled the room, making it one of the class’s most memorable days of the semester.
Yearbook student Leah Foster, who contributed a batch of Publix chocolate chip cookies, said her dessert ended up being a major hit among her classmates. But for her, the food was only part of what made the event special.
“My favorite part was hanging out with all of my friends and taking pictures with Lexi’s (another yearbook staffer) camera,” she shared. “It was just a great time to relax and mess around for once.” Leah had so much fun taking pictures of all of her friends and classmates, learning how to use the camera along the way!

The table featured a mix of homemade favorites and store-bought classics, but one dish stood out to Leah above all the rest: the Publix popcorn chicken. “They’re so good and always such a classic,” she said. “You can never go wrong with it.”
Between food and photos, students bonded over stories, music, and the shared relief of taking a short break from their busy schedules. For Leah, stepping away from her usual routine made the celebration even more meaningful. “It was awesome to just forget my busy schedule for two seconds and have fun with friends,” she said.
As the event wrapped up, the class was already looking ahead to next year’s Friendsgiving. Leah said she’s excited for the tradition to continue, and hopes she’ll make it on time next year to enjoy even more of the fun.
With full plates and full hearts, the yearbook class left their potluck feeling thankful not just for the food, but for the friendships that make their class feel like a family.
