For the week nearing the end of February, Sophomore Daniel Rakoch spent his time with friends for an easy-going few days. For him, it was especially a good time after having to balance homework and relaxation.
On Tuesday, he spent the evening having dinner with his friend and their family at a local seafood restaurant. The group enjoyed a classic seafood boil, complete with crab, shrimp, corn, and potatoes, all seasoned with flavorful spices. The relaxed dinner gave everyone time to catch up, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company. “Seafood boil is one of my favorite meals to have, I was glad to spend the day with a close friend of mine,” he says. The night was filled with good food and laughter, making it one of the highlights of his week.

Another fun part of his week was his meeting at the Tabletop Game Club, where they played Magic the Gathering. Meeting with Mr. Janes and another friend of his, Jaxen, and they all got through two games that day. The first run through, he says, took a relatively short time, under 30 minutes. However, the second run through took over a staggering 2 hours to complete. Highlighting his experience, he says, “I had a very fun time at that meeting. It was probably the sixth time at the club, and I’ve become more familiar with everyone. I came in second place for one of the games, although I would’ve won if I got one more turn. It was a close game, I felt pretty good about how I played.” Daniel’s ability to manage student life, fun clubs, and time spent with friends and family was mainly seen this week. His time spent relaxing and having fun with the people he loves was a great way for him to take his mind off of the hard work he’s been putting in for his classes.
