Commemorating our Senior Golf players for their achievements, accomplishments, memories, and the skill they’ve built up over the course of many years gives these special players a sentimental farewell to golf. Just last Tuesday on September 30th, a memorable ceremony was held at Heritage Harbor Golf and Country Club at 2:45 PM, with their final match of the season against Cypress Creek starting forty five minutes later at 3:30 PM.

To Andrew Kasubinski , being honored that night was a moment of festivity as he looked at his development of skill in this sport. He details the celebration, saying “When we got there, there were a bunch of the Senior posters hung up, and all of the parents were there, and we basically all got together and celebrated.” An emotional moment for both the Boys and the Girls Sunlake Golf Team was spent together on Senior Night with players’ parents present to commemorate along with them.
Being a part of this individual sport was big for Andrew, as he says that he’s played golf his entire life. He remarks, “Ever since I was a kid I’ve been playing golf …” When asked about what playing golf means to him, he said, “It’s a fun, enjoyable hobby that I get to make new friends in. It gives me something to look forward to and do.”
On Tuesday, he said “It felt good to be honored. Just being celebrated for all the hard work I’ve put in for this sport,” A wave of pride and gratification hit him during that moment of celebration when they were nearing the final match of their high school sports career. Andrew says that he felt mostly happy to be honored on Senior Night. He adds in, “It was also a little sad seeing that the end is nearing for my high school golf journey.”
He says, “After the season wraps up, I figured I’ll probably keep playing golf, but not at a competitive level. I don’t really see myself playing to that point; it’ll be sort of like a hobby on the side for me, but I still enjoy playing golf.”
From the last two years that he and the rest of the players have been playing golf, he says that he’s been able to accomplish some major goals for himself. “I’ve improved a lot from these last two years, just practicing and getting better,” he says.
Senior Night for our senior golf players at Sunlake gave a heartwarming wrap-up of their sports career, something important to be celebrated as they reach closer to high school graduation.
