Senior night is always emotional, but for wrestler Zeke Johnson; Senior, it carried extra weight. As he walked in the gym for one of his final home matches, the reality of his wrestling career coming to an end truly set in. “It means a lot, knowing that all the work and time I’ve put into this program will be over after this season. Zeke has been a consistent presence in the wrestling room, known for his determination and willingness to push through challenges. His senior season reflected that mindset, while it didn’t go perfectly it reflected his resilience. “My season has gone pretty good, with ups and downs, due to injury,” he said. “But regardless of them I’ve shown that I’m a tough competitor. Injuries tested Zeke both physically and mentally, but he continued top show up for his team, proving that effort and attitude matter just as much as results. His perseverance paid off in key moment of the season, including one match that stands out as his favorite. “My favorite memory is when I beat a high ranked kid at district duals and my teammates were cheering me on.” That moment captured what wrestling meant to him. It wasn’t just the individual success, but the bond built with his teammate who push and support each other every step of the way. Senior night was a chance to recognize these bonds. Teammates, coaches, friends, and family all showed up to support all the seniors to celebrate everything they have done for the team. As Zeke prepares to graduate and move on from high school wrestling and go into college wrestling, he hope younger wrestlers can learn from his experience. “The advice I would give is to not stop wrestling, even if you’ve had a bad tournament or practice,” he said. “The worst thing you could do is give up on yourself and stop moving forward.” Zeke had a big impact on the wrestling program and it showed. His toughness, perseverance, and leadership set an example for future wrestlers, making his senior night not just a farewell, but a reflection of everything he brought to the sport.
