On January 17, Sunlake didn’t just win a flag football game, they made a statement. And right in the middle of that 57–0 shutout was Breanna Shows; Sophomore, a player whose energy, preparation, and leadership helped set the tone long before the first whistle.
For Breanna, the game started days earlier. She walked into practice that week with a mindset she’s been building since freshman year: stay locked in, stay hungry, and make every rep count. She talked about how the team sharpened their communication, tightened their routes, and pushed each other to move faster and cleaner. By the time game day arrived, Breanna wasn’t nervous — she was ready and it showed.
From the opening drive, Breanna played with a confidence that radiated across the field. Whether she was reading the defense, calling out adjustments, or hyping up her teammates between plays, she carried herself like someone who understood the assignment. She wasn’t just playing in the game she was shaping it.
What Breanna remembers most isn’t the scoreboard. It’s the feeling. The way the team clicked. The way every girl trusted the next. She talked about how the sideline stayed loud, how the defense communicated like they were sharing one brain, and how the offense fed off that energy. Every time Sunlake scored, Breanna felt the momentum build not because of individual plays, but because the team moved as one.
Still, her impact was everywhere. She brought intensity without losing composure, competitiveness without losing joy. When the defense forced stops, she was the first one celebrating. When the offense executed cleanly, she was the one making sure everyone stayed focused for the next drive. Even in a blowout, Breanna kept the standard high. She didn’t want sloppy plays or lazy routes just because the score was lopsided. She wanted Sunlake to play Sunlake football.
