Junior Alondra Arauz Colon and her teammates delivered an impressive performance in their game against the Cypress Creek Varsity team, securing a 10-0 victory. From the start, the team came out focused and ready to compete. “We started pretty well,” Alondra said. “We scored three runs in the first inning, and that really set the tone for the rest of the game.”
The team continued to build momentum throughout the game with solid hitting and strong defense. While no home runs were hit during that matchup, the offense consistently got on base and executed their plays well. “We did really well in hitting and getting the plays done,” Alondra explained. The defense also played an important role in keeping Cypress Creek from scoring. Players stayed locked in and avoided errors, helping maintain the shutout.
Even though the game remained under control, the team stayed energized by supporting each other throughout every inning. “We stayed motivated by picking each other up and making sure we hyped each other up,” Alondra shared. Teammates and crowds also played a role in keeping the energy high. “The crowd being hyped definitely helped the team as a whole, energized all game,” she added. When stepping up to the plate, Alondra stayed focused on doing her part for the team. “During my at-bat, all I could think about was making sure I get my job done and executing,” she said.
Having played softball for eight to nine years, Alondra’s love for the sport started with friends and coaches who encouraged her to join. “All my friends were trying out, and one of the assistant coaches was my travel coach and one of my favorite coaches ever,” she said. Before every game, she also has a personal routine. “I make sure I have a Red Bull before the game.”
