On Tuesday, February 24 the Seahawks of the softball team showed what they were capable of. These girls beat the Cypress Creek 10-0, adding an amazing win to their record. One of the many valued players on this team is Lilly Lyons, who is a junior. She has been a player on the team since her freshman year making this her third season. She has been a softball player since she was 10 years old, which really set her up for success.
Lilly Lyons plays shortstop, which is a defensive role. She can be spotted stopping balls in the center and left field area. She is also responsible for double plays with the second baseman. This year Sunlake has a record of 3-1 so far, and these players can’t wait for more success. Lilly stated, “I’ve played with the majority of my team since I was in Little League.” This is key to having great team chemistry throughout the season. As they grow in skill, they are also growing up together. Lilly also said, “The chemistry of all the teammates I feel that we all get along very well and we just have fun.” This confirms just how important team bonding is and how it can be a direct factor to success.
Overall, Lilly is excited for this season and as they continue to inevitably win, the team will only grow closer. Lilly said, “The season has started off very well we are playing very good as a team, and I believe we are going to continue to do well through the season.” Make sure to check in with our Softball Team or even come out to a home game.
