For sophomore Caleb Gray, this past week was one of the most enjoyable and stress-free weeks of the school year. With no tests or quizzes to worry about, Caleb said he was able to fully enjoy everything that came with homecoming week, from the pep rally to the big football game and time spent with friends.
“It was a pretty good week,” Caleb said. “I didn’t have any tests or quizzes, so I was pretty happy about that.” For many students, homecoming week can be a whirlwind of events, spirit days, and schoolwork, but Caleb appreciated having a lighter load that allowed him to be more present and enjoy the fun atmosphere.
The homecoming football game stood out as the highlight of Caleb’s week. The stands were packed with students, staff, and families, all showing off their school pride. The energy, excitement, and community spirit made it a memorable night for everyone who attended. Caleb especially enjoyed spending time with a few of his friends from yearbook during both the pep rally and the game, celebrating the end of a fun-filled week together.
Unlike other weeks that might bring surprise assignments or challenges, this one was, in Caleb’s words, “very laid back.” He said there wasn’t really anything frustrating or unexpected, which made the week even better.
Outside of school, Caleb also enjoyed some great food at home, especially a chicken parmigiana dish his dad made, which he called the best meal of his week. Though he didn’t try anything new this time, Caleb said he loved enjoying a calm, happy week surrounded by friends and good food.
For Caleb, homecoming week wasn’t about doing something new or extraordinary, it was about taking a break, enjoying the moment, and making the most of a well-earned, relaxed week.
