For many students, the college fair is more than just an event—it’s a glimpse into the future. At the college fair, students can walk around the gym, which is filled with tables and representatives from schools and programs around the country. The goal of students is to talk to the colleges that may interest them, hoping to gain more information on the college experience. For Camilla Frias, a junior at Sunlake, it was both an exciting and educational experience that opened her eyes to new opportunities and helped her shape her college goals.
“I had a very exciting and educational experience at the college fair,” Camilla shared. As she walked through rows of tables filled with college advisors, representatives, and fellow students, she took the chance to learn as much as she could. “I saw many different colleges, advisors, and students. Each college had their own table with lots of important information.”
Among the many schools present, a few stood out to her the most: AdventHealth University, the University of South Florida, and Grand Canyon University. These colleges caught her attention for their strong nursing and medical programs, which connect perfectly with her current studies.
Camilla is part of Sunlake’s Patient Care Technician program, where she’s already getting hands-on experience in the healthcare field. Her passion for helping others and her interest in medicine have motivated her to explore colleges that will allow her to continue that path.
“I’m thinking of applying to those three colleges as well as UCF and FGCU,” she said, referring to the University of Central Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University.
For Camilla, the college fair was more than just a chance to collect brochures—it was a moment of inspiration. With her goals set and her options open, she’s ready to take the next step toward a bright future in healthcare.
