Friendsgiving is a somewhat recent branch off of Thanksgiving, to capture the same joy, comfort, and sense of togetherness as the traditional holiday. For many, friends are seen as family. For many, friends serve as a chosen family, so celebrating the season’s festivities with them feels natural. For Reese Tomb and her group of friends, this sentiment rang especially true as they planned their own gathering.
Rather than follow the classic Friendsgiving model of homemade dishes, coordinated cooking, and hours spent preparing food, they collectively decided to go to Chili’s Instead. That decision allowed them to skip the stress of preparing a full meal and instead focus on simply enjoying each other’s company. Reese said that they enjoyed many kinds of appetizers. “We got a bunch of food like chips and guacamole, mozzarella sticks, and other appetizers.” Reese and her friends were already set up for an amazing meal with those appetizers. However, that’s not all. They also ordered some triple dippers alongside the other dishes.
For her dinner, Reese got a steak. But even with all the amazing dishes they had throughout the night, it was her dessert that ultimately stood out to her the most. Reese mentioned, “I loved the cookie skillet I had for dessert. It was perfectly crunchy and also soft, and it tasted amazing.” Her enthusiasm showed that you don’t need homemade food for a Friendsgiving meal to taste this good.

Reese’s fun night with her friends really shows what Friendsgiving is all about. You don’t need long prepped meals to enjoy time with your friends. Instead, their more casual outing demonstrated that the heart of the celebration lies in being together, sharing laughs, and creating memories. Reese said, “I loved hanging out with everyone and spending time together.”… “I am thankful for my friends and every moment I get to spend with them.” It’s clear that she is happy to call them her friends and thoroughly enjoyed the dinner with them. After all, what makes Friendsgiving fun is getting to spend it with the friends you value most.
