The students of Sunlake High School just returned from Thanksgiving break. Some are tired, some are ecstatic to see their friends again, and some were excited to participate in this week’s spirit week, like Oriana Caldas.

Oriana Caldas is a sophomore here at Sunlake Sigh school who absolutely loves participating in spirit weeks, as in her own words she states that “it gives her something to look forward to throughout the week, especially since it was the first week back from Thanksgiving break.” In other words, it motivates her and makes coming to school a lot more enjoyable. She, herself, really enjoys Christmas and the festivities that come along with it, so she was quick to take part in the Christmas themed spirit week. She states that she “participated in all the prompts, except for the ugly sweater day,” because her sweaters are anything but ugly. On Friday, which was the day students would’ve worn Christmas themed pajamas, she showed up to school wearing a shirt with
Santa riding a unicorn instead of a reindeer and a pair of fuzzy, holiday themed pajama pants; an adorable choice in clothing.
A minority of students actually participated in the themed week, from what Oriana observed. She, in her own words, “wishes that there could have been a bit more students engaging in dressing up, to further feel the holiday spirit,” however she also thinks that the students that did take part in the event looked absolutely stunning in each of their outfits, from their simple Santa hats to their adorable Grinch onesies. She states that “she felt a sense of belonging in the community of people that engaged in the spirit week, where everyone could deck out in clothing that emphasized the festivities.” and that she wishes everyone a Merry Christmas.
