Materazzo has been teaching at Sunlake for 6 years, starting in February of 2019. He teaches the Data Financial Literacy class, where they learn the ins and outs of Finance, different formulas related to finance, managing spreadsheets, expanding knowledge on stocks, and how to be prepared for when students go out into the real world with real money. This year Mr Materazzo has been handling his class as normal, as the only impact made on his class was the new phone policy which had hardly affected him, but has had a larger impact on his students. He says that had it not been for the computer carts provided by the school, they would not have access to any of his course content, and would therefore not be able to access projects, and his videos online which aid students in their assignments on the off chance they aren’t here or they miss instructions.
Midterms have only just concluded recently, and the only known tests remaining are retakes, during the initial midterms however, testing periods extended certain classes up to two hours, instead of the previous year which lasted a little less than this year’s extended period, and because of this extended amount of time teachers have been working to deal with what to do during this two hour window or if their the class taking the test that day, administer the test and watch over the class that day. Mr Materazzo’s class has been no different and once it was their classes turn to the take their midterm on the 16th of December, Mr Materazzo did just that, administer the test, keep a close eye on students, and help anyone in the class that needed it, and after the period was concluded that was it, the test was over and the schedule resumed as normal for the remainder of the week.

When asked if there were any lesson plans he can give at the time of writing he explained that he was eager for more of the projects he had ready for the upcoming second semester, which begins after Winter Break 2025. He further details that one of these projects is where students plan a vacation, either with a group or on their own, and they must manage their money during the trip to avoid spending too much, or miscalculating their numbers. Overall, Materazzo is very kind, respectful, and friendly, and an excellent teacher, who aids every student given that they ask, recently he said he has helped a student who did virtually no work, and today has just completed his last assignment to pass the quarter right before Christmas.
