For Easton Gerheart; sophomore, Semester 1 was defined by energy, connection, and stepping into new experiences that shaped his school year in unforgettable ways. When asked about the highlight of his semester, Easton didn’t hesitate: “My highlight was homecoming season.” From performing in the skit to competing in powderpuff, he described those two weeks as “the best 2 weeks of the year by far.” What made it so special wasn’t just the events themselves, but the people. As he put it, “I met so many amazing people I call my best friends then.”
Academically, the biggest challenge came from math. Easton answered with honesty and humor, admitting, “Definitely math. And how did I handle it? Oh, I didn’t!” Even with tough classes, he still found moments to be proud of—especially winning Homecoming Court for the sophomore class. “It made me feel so special knowing that many of my classmates thought I should win,” he shared. “It was truly an amazing moment.”
Outside the classroom, Easton stayed active and involved. He joined Hawkeye Club, which he says he has “loved so far,” and he continued his second year of track and field as a pole vaulter—something he’s “so happy he gave a try.” These activities helped shape his semester by giving him new communities and opportunities to grow.
The biggest lesson he learned this year was about choosing the right people to surround himself with. “Make sure you surround yourself with people who care about you and have the best intentions,” he reflected. His friends played a huge role in his happiness this semester. “They truly make me want to go to school each day,” he said, giving shoutouts to Lexi, Mason, Layla, Gabby, Blaine, and the entire “Skyhawks” group chat.

Looking back, Easton sees real personal growth. “I truly came out of my bubble this year,” he said. Meeting new faces, making memories, and getting involved helped him shape a semester full of confidence, connection, and joy—one he’ll remember long after sophomore year ends.
