To kick off the end of the fall sports season, Sunlake High School held a special Winter Sports Pep Rally to commemorate these talented athletes. This year’s Winter Pep Rally was neon themed, with the lights turned off and glow-in-the-dark ornaments lighting the way. Among the young athletes was Girl’s Basketball Junior Varsity player Caelynn Rivers; Sophomore. When asked about what her favorite part of the pep rally was, she replied, “I really enjoyed seeing all of the colorful lights. It also felt great seeing everyone in the crowd supporting the Girl’s Basketball team.” For her, seeing everyone in the crowd stand up and cheer for her team showed how strong our school spirit was. Moments like that remind us how much pride and unity exist in our school’s community. Her favorite part of playing for Sunlake’s Girl’s Basketball team was the school’s cheers for every game: “It truly gathered a sense of support that our team appreciated as athletes.”
Another one of our team players for Girl’s Basketball is Ava Micikas; Junior, who said that her favorite part of the Pep Rally was being able to play the fun games with her friends on the team. For her, it was also really exciting to see everyone cheer and support other student athletes.

When asked about what she loved the most during the season, she replied, “The thing I liked most about being on the basketball team was the bond that was created with all of my teammates. We all shared the same vision and as a captain I enjoyed being able to lead this team to our full potential.” As it is her third year playing basketball, it is amazing to see her and her team’s collective growth throughout the years. Her leadership as a captain reflected the hard work and success that she had dedicated her time to while playing.
Overall, the team’s visible endeavors throughout this season and them managing to reach many milestones shows their integrity for their sport. All in all, the Winter Sports Pep Rally displayed amazing student support and commemorated the end of this dedicated season.
